A Jogeshwari woman redefined ‘entrepreneurial finance’ recently after being arrested for stealing cash and valuables worth Rs 2 lakh from her house and filing a sham robbery FIR, all for a cosmetic start-up. She deliberately injured her face and hand to add the reality element to the charade and mislead the police. The entire stunt was allegedly planned to fund a beauty parlour she wished to set up.
On Tuesday, Aparna Inamdar (29) lodged a complaint with the Meghwadi police alleging that two thieves armed with knives had attacked her in her house at Sitabai chawl, Majaswadi, Jogeshwari (East) the day before, and had fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh. She told the police that she suspected her elder brother. When the police detained the brother, Mandar (35), for investigation, he told them that he had been thrown out of the house five years ago due to his drinking habits and had never even visited the area where his family lived.
